Congrats to the svelte Michael Phelps picking up his 3rd gold medal of these Olympics and his ninth career total.
His medals help put the US (as of yesterday) in the lead for the overall medal count.
- United States- 21 (7 gold, 6 silver, 8 bronze)
- China- 18 (11 gold, 3 silver, 4 bronze)
- South Korea- 10 (5 gold, 5 silver, 4 bronze)
OK, so this is a stupid question or thought (take it as you want), but say the US at the end of the Olympics has the most medals overall...shouldn't we receive like won BIG gold medal? And I know the next location of the Olympics is decided on a bid ,but shouldn't the overall winner of the Olympics automatically become the next host? There is your topic...now discuss.
